Color Balance Effect

Color Balance Effect is a plugin dedicated to Paint.net users, which gives them the possibility to correct photographs by configuring the RGB and CMY channel settings.

It can be seamlessly handled not only by experienced Paint.net users, but also by those just starting to get familiarized with this application.

In order to get this add-on up and running, copy the downloaded DLL file to the "Effects" folder in Paint.net's installed directory. There is no actual software installation involved. If the program's already launched, it's necessary to restart it to gain access to the new plugin in the "Adjustments" menu.

The main window of Color Balance Effect is small and displays all options put at your disposal. It's possible to set the channels ranging between cyan and red, magenta and green, as well as yellow and blue by either adjusting three sliders or entering the numerical values if you have this information at hand (between -100 and 100).

Any channel can be reset to its original value with one click. Another noteworthy factor is that effects made to the photograph can be observed in real time. It's not mandatory to apply changes, view modifications, and undo actions if you're not pleased with the results.

Unfortunately, the plugin hasn't received updates for a long time and we couldn't get it to run with the latest edition of Paint.net in our tests. It works smoothly with older versions, though. It remained stable throughout the application's runtime, without causing it to hang, crash or display errors.

Color Balance Effect offers a simple solution for fixing the color levels within images. However, we cannot overlook the fact that it doesn't work with the most recent Paint.net editions.
