A handy and easy to use application dedicated to viewing DIF images, also providing a built-in tool for converting common image formats to DIF

editor's review

As its name states, the main purpose of DIFViewer is to help you open and view DIF files in an easy and simple manner. The application is specifically designed for the Dictionary Image Format (in short, DIF), a text-based graphic file type that encodes bitmap images at high compression rates.

Access color dictionaries and the DIF code

DIFViewer comes with a simple interface that comprises all its options within a single window, making it very easy to work with. It is compatible with both uncompressed (DIF) and compressed (CDF) images, but unfortunately, it can only open one file at a time.

You can easily view the color dictionary for the loaded image, as well as a list of the installed dictionaries (definitions of color palettes). The application can also display the DIF code for the currently opened DIF file, enabling you to send it all to the clipboard with the push of a button.

Convert, export and compress DIF images

Despite of what the name might suggest, the functionality of DIFViewer is not limited to opening DIF images. It also comes with a set of options to help you handle such files much easier.

Thanks to the integrated image converter, you can easily convert common graphic formats such as BMP, JPEG, GIF, PNG and TIFF to DIF format or compress DIF images to obtain CDF files. Additionally, it features exporting capabilities, enabling you to save an opened DIF image to more popular file types, ensuring compatibility with most image viewers.

A great tool for DIF manipulation

DIFViewer comes in handy in situations when you have to deal with DIF images or want to obtain such files out of regular image formats. It bundles a clear and accessible set of options for manipulating DIF images, while providing a reliable image viewer with zooming and image data extraction capabilities.
