Softpedia Editor's Review for Embroidery Reader
|
View and read PES files with the help of this tool
Written by Elena Opris on December 8th, 2012
Embroidery Reader is a program with a pretty self-explanatory name - it allows you to view the contents of Embroidery files. PES items contain stitching data and is used by home embroidery machines.
The interface of the tool is based on a standard window where you can import PES files by using only the file browser because the "drag and drop" functionality is not included. Unfortunately, you cannot import multiple items at the same time.
So, you can save the PES as an image, copy it and rotate it left or right (it can be reset to its original position).
In the "Preferences" area you can configure Embroidery Reader settings. So, you can change the background color or restore it to default, specify the number of pixels for the thread thickness, as well as set the program to remove "ugly" stitches (the length can be established in pixels).
The simple-to-use tool requires a low-to-moderate amount of CPU and system memory, has a good response time and allows you to check for program updates. We have not come across any difficulties throughout our testing; Embroidery Reader did not freeze, crash or pop up error dialogs. The images have good quality.

Embroidery Reader description

What's New in This Release: [ read full changelog ]
· Fixed a crash on Windows 7.
· The crash was caused by saving the settings file in the installation folder which is a no-no on Windows 7. I suspect that the crash could occur on Windows Vista, but I’ve never seen it happen.
· This version also includes a number of changes under the hood, so to speak, but the majority of them won’t be visible unless you look at the code.
