Most, if not all modern mobile phones are equipped with powerful cameras, so you can capture a frame of everything you find interesting. This sooner or later leads to downloading these pictures, and uploading, or processing them. If this is the case, Imagine Picture Viewer combines both a neat viewer, and editor to enhance images, and apply different effects.
It doesn’t take long before you get to check out the set of features, since the installation process takes a little while. However, before using it becomes an option, you need to make sure that the computer you use it on is fitted with .NET Framework, even though it’s a default feature in modern Windows iterations.
Unfortunately, the application does not integrate itself in the context menu to have images opened faster, but tweaks can be made in this regard from general system options. What’s more, loading pictures from the main window needs to be done through the browse dialog, because dropping files over the preview area has no effect.
File support makes it possible to work with pictures under formats like JPG, BMP, and PNG. Once a file loads, you’re free to navigate through the entire source folder. In this regard, a built-in slideshow player bring up a fullscreen preview, with controls manually handled, as there’s no option to configure a timer for slide interval.
Apart from regular viewing, there are a few adjustments, and effects at your disposal. These include rotation, and flipping, color adjustments. As far as effects are concerned, a slider shows up in most cases so you can adjust intensity before actually applying effects.
Unfortunately, the application tends to use a disturbingly high amount of system resources, especially when trying to apply effects, and change colors. In most cases, the operation resulted in a crash, or at least several of our test cases ended up this way.
Imagine Picture Viewer comes with good intentions, and combines quite the variety of viewing, and editing options. The source folder of the initial file is automatically loaded, with the possibility to start a slideshow, while multiple effects can be used to alter the target image. Unfortunately, frequent stability issues can cause some frustration, and make you look for alternatives.
