Mars Mapper draws upon files of digital elevation data acquired by the Mars Orbiter Laser Altimeter (MOLA) that flew aboard the NASA Mars Global Surveyor (MGS) spacecraft to draw elevation maps of the planet.
The data files you need to run Mars MOLA Mapper are the MOLA Mission Experiment Gridded Data Records (MEGDRs).
These files are available in a number of resolutions: Mars MOLA Mapper requires the secondmost detailed version, the MEG064 data set. This consists of 4 tiles providing 64 pixels per degree resolution over the entire surface of Mars.
