Caldera is a software app which was developed in Adobe Air in order to aid individuals transform images from one formats to another, while also tweaking their name, size and quality.
Swift setup and clean environment
The installation process runs seamlessly, as it does not offer to download or add any third-party products and it is over in just a few seconds. The interface you are greeted by encloses a minimal and modern interface, which is comprised of a few buttons and boxes, and a pane in which to upload photos. It becomes quite clear that all types of users can learn how to handle it, regardless of their experience level.
Settings to configure and usability
This software utility enables you to tweak a pretty large number of parameters. First and foremost, you can change the output file extension to PNG, GIF or JPG, the latter one enabling you to also adjust the quality of the picture with the help of a slider bar.
Aside from that, you can choose the directory in which to store the results and change the name of all uploaded images, with a custom prefix and starting number. Items can also be fitted or cut according to a user-input maximum width and height, or you can resize them according to their aspect ratio.
Once all these configurations are set, all you have to do is drop one or multiple files to the program, or select an entire folder with the built-in file browser.
All in all, Caldera is a pretty efficient piece of software when it comes to converting pictures and changing their name or size. The system’s performance is not going to suffer any changes, the interface is accessible to all user categories and our tests did not pick up on any errors or crashes.
