Video Converter is a tool that enables you to encode media files of various formats (including AVI, ASF, WMV and MP3) to DVDs, VCDs, SVCDs and DVs.

The interface of the application is very plain and easy to navigate through. Media can be imported into the queue via the file browser only, because the "drag and drop" method is not accessible. Batch processing is supported.

In the list you can check out the source and target name, along with convert duration and status of each file.

After you select the output format and directory, you can initiate the conversion process.

In addition, you can select the format type (NTSC, PAL or NTSC-Film), open the output location, arrange videos in the queue and preview clips in order to trim them by marking the start and end time.

Video Converter takes up a low amount of system resources while it's busy with a job, includes a brief step-by-step guide with snapshots, displays tooltips and didn't freeze or crash during our tests. The image and sound are kept at a very good quality in the output videos.

On the other hand, Video Converter popped up an error during a conversion job and failed to encode a file. Plus, it doesn't allow you to choose an output name or configure audio and video settings like frame rate or aspect ratio. The interface could use some improvements as well.

All in all, Video Converter is certainly a promising software when it comes to encoding video files. Although it can be easily used by individuals of any experience level, we recommend it with some reservations.
