Fast Video Converter
Fast Video Converter is an application with a pretty self-explanatory title - it allows you to encode video files to multiple formats, including AVI, WMV, ASF and MPG.
The interface of the program is plain and simple to work with. Video clips can be imported into the queue by using the file browser only, since the "drag and drop" method is not supported. Batch processing is allowed.
In the list you can check out the source path, size, format and output directory for each video clip. Once you establish the destination folder and extension, you can proceed with the encoding job.
On top of that, you can configure video settings when it comes to the frames per second, size, TV system, frame size and others. Options can be restored to their default values. Plus, you can preview clips in a small, built-in media player.
The video conversion software requires a moderate amount of system resources, has a good response time, quickly finishes a task and generally preserves a fair image and sound quality. No errors have occurred during our tests and Fast Video Converter did not freeze or crash. There's also a step-by-step guide with snapshots that you can look into.
On the other hand, the interface is outdated and you cannot change program settings (e.g. enable the tool to automatically turn off the computer after conversion). Plus, a video's speed increased in one encoding case during our tests, although we had used default settings. We recommend Fast Video Converter with reservations.
