Free AVI to DivX Converter is an application designed to help you change the format of AVI videos into DivX and MPEG. It can be easily used, even by less experienced individuals.
The interface of the application is based on a standard window where you can import items by using either the file browser or "drag and drop" functionality. Unfortunately, you cannot process multiple entries in a single session.
So, you can find out the source path of the video, as well as establish the output profile and preset (AVI with DivX 4, DivX 5 or MPEG 4), in order to proceed with the conversion procedure. During the task, you can check out a progress bar.
The video conversion program runs on a low-to-moderate amount of CPU and system memory, in order to complete a job in reasonable time. It has a good response time. There is also a help file available for first-time users.
On the other hand, since the tool comes with limited features, you cannot configure audio and video settings (e.g. frame rate, aspect ratio, bit rate, channel mode, volume level). Plus, you cannot set Free AVI to DivX Converter to automatically open the output directory or to turn off the computer once the task is done.
The output videos do not have a very good image and sound quality. Also, you cannot specify the thread priority or minimize Free AVI to DivX Converter to the system tray. The interface needs some improvements but we must take into account the fact that Free AVI to DivX Converter has not been updated for some time.
