MediaCoder PSP Edition

MediaCoder PSP Edition is a program designed to help you prepare audio and video files for the PSP format, such as MPEG-4 AVC (Normal), PSP-MKV (HQ) and PMP AVC (HQ).

The app is wrapped in a clean interface. Its layout is not necessarily intuitive, so first-time users may require some time to get accustomed to it.

Adding files to the list can be done with the help of the file browser, folder view or 'drag and drop' method.

Plus, you can add a folder recursively, folder watcher, track (DVD, audio CD, video CD), capture device, URL or RSS.

The file queue provides the name, speed, status, size, duration and type of each item. Audio and video customization options revolve around the format, resolution, quality, frames per second, channel mode, gain and volume normalization.

You can trim and crop clips, make image adjustments (e.g. brightness, gamma, hue), apply effects (e.g. temporal or normal 3D denoiser) and  configure subtitle settings (e.g. scale, position, outline).

Further configurable properties center around the task mode (benchmark, demux, split), tasking (e.g. enable test phase, encoding speed control, priority), GUI mode (simple, normal or expert mode), language, logging and post-task actions (e.g. power off or hibernate computer), just to name a few.

The media conversion tool runs on a moderate amount of system resources, has a good response time and contains user documentation. It quickly encodes a media file and preserves a good image and sound quality. We have not come across any difficulties in our testing; MediaCoder PSP Edition did not freeze, crash or pop up error dialogs. The app can be mainly handled by advanced users.
