Universal Video Converter is a simplistic program that allows you to encode media files between several formats, including AVI, MP4, WAV, MP3 and 3GP.
The application comes with a user-friendly interface in which you can import media by using the file browser only, since the "drag and drop" method is not supported. Batch processing is not allowed.
So, once you specify the output destination and profile, you can initiate the encoding process by clicking the "Convert" button.
In addition, you can modify audio and video preferences when it comes to the codec, bit rate, mode, sample frequency rate, volume, frames, resolution and aspect ratio.
But you can also enable Universal Video Converter to create only a 10-second segment for testing purposes, deinterlace pictures, as well as shut down the computer, play a sound or show the output folder when the task is completed.
The application runs on a low-to-moderate amount of system resources, quickly finishes a task and keeps a fair image and sound quality (it could had been better). We haven't come across any issues during our tests, since Universal Video Converter did not freeze or crash.
On the other hand, the fact that batch conversion is not supported is a huge disappointment. There is no help file available. Also, the unregistered version is extremely limited. We definitely suggest you look for something mode advanced than Universal Video Converter.
