As the title of this software implies, WMV to AVI Converter lets you encode video files from the WMV format to the AVI extension.
The interface of the program is very plain and simple to navigate through. Videos can be imported by using the file browser only, since the "drag and drop" method is not supported (and neither is batch processing).
So, you can preview the clip, trim it by marking the start and end point, specify the output destination and file name, and proceed with the conversion process.
In addition, you can change audio and video parameters when it comes to the resolution, frame rate, resize mode and compressors. Settings can be restored to their default values at any time.
The straightforward video conversion tool takes up a moderate amount of system resources, includes a well-written step-by-step guide with snapshots for beginners and quickly finishes an encoding job without freezing, crashing or popping up errors.
We haven't encountered any type of issues during our tests. The image and sound quality is preserved at a very good level in the output videos. On the other hand, the biggest disadvantage of WMV to AVI Converter is the fact that it doesn't support batch conversions.
Plus, you cannot directly write the start and end time values for trimming and you cannot disable the sound effects that can be heard when hovering over buttons. We recommend WMV to AVI Converter with reservations.
