ArcSoft TotalMedia is a platform that allows you to record videos, edit images, convert media, and more.
The first time you launch the application, the main window is switched to full screen mode, but you can resize it right away. The user interface is clean and straightforward.
Here you have access to TV, DVDs, pictures, music, video, to go (iPod video, PSP, SanDisk Sansa e200, Windows Smartphone, Windows Pocket PC), Share and Setup.
You can watch videos in HDTV, schedule a recording session and save it on your computer, use time-shifting, burn videos to DVDs, view teletext, set the tool to automatically scan channels, and select subtitles.
In addition, you can browse for images, create slideshows, quickly edit images (e.g. rotate, zoom, crop, red eye removal, auto enhance), print photographs or create a backup for them, but also trim clips in DVDs, create DVDs from captured video or recorded TV, and choose language and subtitles.
ArcSoft TotalMedia also enables you to create a music library and organize songs in playlists, rip music from CDs, and listen to radio. Plus, you can configure parental control for DVDs (use a password), add soundtrack to a slideshow, and more.
Unfortunately, we encountered a couple of issues during testing. To start off, the program uses a huge amount of system resources. Its response time to commands is not excellent, and it does not offer enough information within the menus. But it still is a great media center that can be used by both beginners and experts.
