· With VideoCAD you can:
· Choose the most suitable lenses, heights and locations for camera installation to provide the required parameters of view areas, detect and identify a person, read license plates out and obtain an object image of required size on a display using the known actual sizes and location of an object.
· Construct 3D models of real scenes with the possibility of loading prepared 3D models (a person, a car, etc., this library can be enlarged).
· Model quality parameters of a video image (resolution, compression, coloration, smoothing, contrast, brightness).
· Calculate the horizontal projection sizes of viewing, person detecting, identifying and license plate reading-out areas to draw them on the object plan.
· Measure the view area distortions, arising from natural obstacles.
· Locate cameras and cables on the prepared layouts in *.bmp, *.jpg, *.emf, *.wmf, *.dwg, *.dxf formats. To display *.dwg and *.dxf files the CAD Import module by CAD Soft Tools http://www.cadsofttools.com was used.
· Print out the obtained drawing on one or several pages. Possibility to use prepared frames with standard overlay Title-Block and logo.
· Export the obtained drawing into any of the following formats: *.bmp,*.emf, *.wmf, *.dxf (R14),*.dxf (R2000).
· Design operator interface using the Monitors window.
· Calculate the length and electric parameters of cables.

· Calculate a view area horizontal projection according to the lens focal length, image sensor format, camera installation height, the required minimal and maximal heights and the maximal range of surveillance.
· Calculate the horizontal projections of the person detection, identification and license plate reading-out areas according to the lens focal length, image sensor format, camera installation height, the required maximal height and range of surveillance and the additionally assigned criteria, depending on quality level of video image.
· Determine a full or partial object hitting in the view area and calculate an object size on a display in percentage of a display size, pixels, TV lines and millimetres (inches in case of Imperial format) at the known sizes of a display using the actual object sizes, height above the ground and camera location distance.
· Model 3D scenes and images from video cameras taking into consideration the quality parameters of each video camera.
· Display the view area actual image enabling to measure any parameters at any point using the graphics window.
· Save the actual view area image in graphical formats.
· Create, save and load projects containing up to 100 cameras and up to 10 layouts.
· Export projects into text files.
· Keep the database of the person detection, identification and license plate reading-out criteria, depending on quality levels of video image.
· Calculate automatically the length and electrical parameters of cable.
· Since the version VideoCAD 2.0 the CAD interface is used in the graphics window.
· Since the version VideoCAD 3.0 both Metric and Imperial measurement systems can be employed.

Limitations:
· Changing lens focal length and image sensor format is not available.

· Monitors window has been added. Monitors window logically finishes the information transfer process in video surveillance system "from a real object to an operator" and thus, allows to model the video surveillance system as a hole.
· The new tool in 3D window - PTZH frame allows operating a camera in 3D window similarly to PTZ one and additionally to change camera's installation height. Together with the Monitors window this tool offers a new method of 3D CCTV design.
· There is a new opportunity to carry out Depth-of-field 3D modeling.
· There is a new opportunity to carry out 3D modeling of visibility limited by rain, snow, fog according to the Meteorological Visibility.
· Current construction parameters panel allows creating and editing constructions by input of parameters.

VideoCAD 5.0 can use files of the following CAD formats as a background:
· *.dxf AutoDesk DXF Release 12, 13, 14 , 2000, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006.
· *.dwg AutoDesk DWG Release 12, 13, 14 , 2000, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006.
· DWG and DXF reference images, SHX fonts, DXF Autocad Table, Hatch gradients, Unicode fonts (important especially for languages based on hieroglyphs - Chinese, Korean, Japanese etc.) are supported in CAD background.
· Visibility of Camera view area in 3D window can be switched independently of View area visibility in Graphics window.
· Displaying of cameras' names and titles can be switched separately..
· Option to switch on/off the display of view area and view area projections for all selected cameras simultaneously.
· Selected camera changes the color together with it's view area.
· Construction of person detection area is carried out more precisely, considering additional inflection of bound.
· Option to move constructions and cameras in Select/Edit mode, without switching to Move mode.
· While working only with cameras we have a new option to lock constructions.
· The tool Find loaded camera is updated and renamed to Show loaded camera.
· Number of redrawings in 3D window is reduced for increasing of program's speed. For forced redrawing, click the image in 3D window.
· Exact position of the drawing is stored at finishing the work with the program and restored at restart.
· Reloading speed of cameras is increased.
· The range of drawing scaling is expanded.
· The range of focal lengths of lens is expanded.
· Many functions are improved, detected errors are corrected.
· VideoCAD 5.0 can read projects, created in VideoCAD 4.xx.
