AK-Player is a media player that stands out through the graphical interface which takes a modern approach. It offers support for audio, video and image files, such as AVI, WMV, WMA, MP3, JPG and BMP.
At initialization, the control panel makes its appearance through an animation. Media files can be loaded into the workspace using either the file browser or drag-and-drop function. AK-Player opens file content in a separate window and allows you to display as many items as you want at the same time.
The supported media controls are standard, since you can usually find them in most similar programs: pause or stop the stream, adjust the volume level, switch to full screen mode, zoom in and out, as well as create a playlist.
In addition, you can modify the global volume (for all media open in AK-Player), as well as perform an automatic search on the hard drive to identify and play streaming videos offline from websites like YouTube (these are saved to the temporary Internet files).
AK-Player has a good response time and uses a low-to-moderate quantity of CPU and RAM, so it doesn't burden system performance. No error dialogs have been shown throughout our evaluation, and the app did not hang or crash. All in all, AK-Player is a very good choice for viewing streaming clips offline, and it can be easily handled by all user levels.
