CS Player is a small and portable application that you can use to play video files of various formats, including DVD, ASF, AVI, MPG and WMV.
Since the tool does not require installation, you can simply place CS Player on a removable device (like a USB flash drive) and run the executable file on any computer. More importantly, your Windows registry keys will not change.
The interface of the program is simple-to-use and resembles the one of Media Player Classic. You can import media by using the file browser or the "drag and drop" function.
So, you can use basic media player tools, like pause and stop, seek forward or backward, navigate back and forth within the track and adjust the volume.
But you can also create a playlist, switch to full screen mode, take a snapshot and adjust colors when it comes to brightness, contrast, hue, saturation and gamma. These settings can be saved for other videos or reset to default.
In the "Options" area you can allow multiple instances, enable to open files in full screen mode and to remember playlist files, as well as set CS Player to always be on top of other applications and to turn off the computer at the end of the playback.
Furthermore, you can enable to repeat the playlist, reconfigure keyboard shortcuts, configure filters, set file associations, and more.
The media player uses a low-to-moderate amount of system resources and hasn't frozen or crashed during our tests. Unfortunately, there is no help file available.
We would have liked to see support for additional video formats (e.g. MOV, FLV, 3GP). Other than that, CS Player is a simple and straightforward media player and we strongly recommend it to users who want a simplistic and portable application.
