WhosIP is a simple command-line utility that can retrieve every available network information on a remote computer, based on its IP address. It primarily addresses advanced users, such as network administrators.
While most applications come with a clean and intuitive GUI for easy navigation, some users prefer working with command-line programs, since launching a Command Prompt dialog and inputting a few lines gets the job done in no time, without worrying about the computer's performance.
In order to use this tool, you must get ahold of the IP address of the computer whose network details you want to analyze. WhosIP provides the Whois source, country, network and owner name, source and destination IP, whether it is allocated, contact name, address, email, abuse email, phone and fax numbers, in addition to the organization name, ID, address and city.
The straightforward program barely uses CPU and system memory, so it does not interfere with the runtime of other active proceses. It has a good response time and reveals network information rapidly, without making the operating system hang, crash or pop up error dialogs. On the downside, WhosIP has not been updated for a very long time.
