Global Clipboard

The Windows clipboard is where the most recent thing you copy gets stored, os it can be used later on where needed. However, the default can only hold one entry, which makes it difficult to handle multiple items. Luckily, you can rely on specialized applications like Global Clipboard that give a lot more power to the clipboard.

Most of its time is spent in the tray area, but there’s also a main window to work with. Normally interacting with the icon brings it up, and you can make it automatically hide when not needed. The context menu lets you access some quick options to paste, or scroll through existing items.

The main window provides a clear preview of items you copy, especially if they’re text. Files are also shown by name, with the possibility to have path shown as well. In case a slot is filled with text, related info like strings, words, and characters can be viewed in a small section next to content.

Global Clipboard works with hotkeys as well. However, these are oriented towards navigation through content and pasting, without the possibility to set custom combination of buttons for a specific slot. In case you want to export a slot, it’s possible to do so under TXT or RTF formats, or as slot file to be used any other time.

An advantage is the possibility to save slot sets as well. It comes in handy for configuring standard text forms, and creating custom groups of specific quick items. There’s a built-in sets manager that allows you to modify content, save, remove, and quickly load existing ones through corresponding slide menus.

Bottom line is that work on a computer is awfully tricky without the clipboard. It’s only a shame not to benefit from what Global Clipboard has to offer, especially if you frequently need to perform copy paste operations for different types of content. Hotkeys make everything more comfortable, while option to save sets adds a lot to flexibility.
