HandyOutliner for DjVu / PDF

HandyOutliner for DjVu / PDF facilitates a straightforward method for creating bookmark trees for DjVu and PDF files. It also provides the possibility to edit existing bookmarks, change their structure, shift page numbers, or insert new ones. The resulted trees can be embedded in the original or other documents.

The program's not wrapped in a setup kit, so you can copy its files on a local or removable disk to easily launch it. However, the machine must have .NET Framework installed. No modifications are made to your Windows registry.

As for the interface, HandyOutliner for DjVu / PDF adopts a simple and organized window which asks you to point out the bookmark source to get started. Apart from DjVu and PDF, the tool offers support for DJV, TXT (table of contents), XML (STDU XML Bookmark) and DSED formats (Djvudsed).

You can view the table of contents with chapters and pages, edit bookmark properties (title, page number), remove bookmarks, re-arrange them in the table of contents or insert new bookmarks, as well as shift page numbers. Once the target is specified, the application swiftly embed the new DjVu or PDF bookmark trees in the given file, whether it's the original or another document.

As far as program customization is concerned, you can switch to another UI language, make the frame stay on top of other windows, and configure font properties, such as style and size. A console pane shows the program's activity, and these details can be cleared.

It handled bookmark embedding tasks smoothly in our tests, without hanging, crashing or showing errors. Unsurprisingly, it left a small footprint on system resources.
