Open Freely

If you were asked what program you use to open a file on your computer, then the logical answer in most cases would be that it depends on the file in question. Unfortunately, not everyone has enough free space or limited resources to access all files they might need for various work or personal projects.

Open Freely is a light, but powerful application that allows you to open over 100 types of files and even perform a few modifications, if necessary.

The perk of the utility stems from the numerous types of file formats it allows you to access, all from the same place and without the need to install third-party software solutions just for this purpose. To be more accurate, the app permits you to open a wide variety of images, Windows files, Microsoft Office documents and spreadsheets, media files, archives and code files.

In spite of the fact that the application acts as a viewer, you should know that it also enables you to edit the documents that you are analyzing. You can change the style, format, size and the color of the text content. You can format it by adding numbers, bullets and by increasing or decreasing the indent.

As previously mentioned, the utility enables you to open audio and media files such as  WMA, MPEG, FLV, AVI, MP4, MP3 or MKV, just to name a few. Unlike the text documents, the application solely allows you to preview the videos or listen to the tracks but does not support editing.

While it can be argued that it would have been nice if the app allowed you to make some minor modifications to media files as well. On the other hand, let us not forget that it can open more file formats than the standard Windows Media Player. Moreover, the app permits you to open and edit files with the advanced hex editor as well as access and create your own archives.
