First PDF is a simple-to-use program that allows you to convert PDF files to Microsoft Word-supported documents (DOC format) or plain text files (TXT file type). But you can also turn then into images, with the following extensions: PNG, JPEG, GIF, BMP, TIFF and multi-page TIFF.
The installation procedure is quick and uneventful, without demanding special input from the user. First PDF's interface is based on a regular window with a simple and well-organized layout.
Loading PDF items into the working environment is done using only the file browser, since the drag-and-drop function is unsupported. Batch processing is possible, so you can add as many files as you want.
For a straightforward conversion job, all you have to do is specify the output directory and file type, whether they are image or text-based. When it comes to pictures, you can also adjust the DPI.
First PDF also gives you the possibility of previewing results in the main frame. Plus, you can clear the file list to import new items. There are no other notable options or configurable settings available through this program.
The application uses a pretty high amount of CPU and system memory, considering its limited functionality. It has a good response time and delivers accurate results, especially when it comes to creating images from PDFs. No error dialogs have been shown in our evaluation, and the app did not hang or crash. Thanks to its intuitive layout and straightforwardness, First PDF should please the entire audience.
