Installation:
Run 'gmsunzip.bat' (Dos, Windows) or 'gmsunzip' (Linux) in '[GMS_ROOT]', the Markup Shredder installation folder. If the GMS archives are already extracted, run 'gmssetup.bat' respectively 'gmssetup' in '[GMS_ROOT]htdocstexmfetc'.
After installation, Markup Shredder can be started from the command line
by saying 'gms' or 'gerolf' (text mode interface).
Gerolf Markup Shredder runs under Linux, Dos and Windows on Intel-386 compatible machines. It comes with a web browser interface, which allows to execute the GMS main functions with just one mouse click from the button bar.
Everything can be displayed within the same framework, even the typesetting result, using the Adobe Acrobat Reader plug-in.
This interface is written in PHP language and requires installation of the XAMPP package on the computer. There is also a simple text mode interface, which does not depend on any additional software.
Its menu can only be accessed via keystrokes. Text editor, HTML browser and PDF reader are executed as external programs. Using a command line interface, Markup Shredder can also be integrated in advanced editors like Emacs (Linux) or HTML-Kit (Windows-32).
