Nuance PDF Reader
Nuance PDF Reader is a software application that integrates a bunch of useful functions for viewing PDF documents. It can be easily used as an alternative to Adobe Reader, and targets all types of individuals, regardless of their skill level.
The interface of the tool is modern and fairly intuitive. Files can be loaded into the working environment using either the file browser or "drag and drop" function.
So, you can make a selection, add notes and use a search function, as well as check the spelling and switch to full screen mode.
Furthermore, you can toggle the viewing mode between single page, continuous, facing and continuous facing, rotate the pages clockwise or counterclockwise, and show a grid and rulers.
It is also possible to view document properties (description, security, fonts), manage trusted identities, insert text boxes and callouts, highlight areas, cross-out or underline text, attach files or sounds, as well as apply drawing tools (e.g. pencil, line, rectangle, cloud, eraser).
Plenty of settings can be made from the Preferences panel. For example, you can personalize the text box default font, enable auto-complete mode, establish full screen properties (e.g. use Escape key to exit, adjust the navigation transparency), make the tool verify signatures when the document is opened, and so on.
Nuance PDF Reader uses a moderate-to-high quantity of CPU and system memory, has a good response time and includes a help file. We have not come across any issues throughout our testing; the utility did not hang, crash or pop up error dialogs. Thanks to its intuitive layout, yet rich features, Nuance PDF Reader should please the entire audience.
