PDF Combine

PDF Combine is a tiny and portable software application that enables users to merge two or more PDF documents into a single file. It comes bundled with a basic set of options that make the app accessible to all types of users, regardless of their level of experience.

Since installation is not required, you can put the program files in any part of the hard disk and just click the executable to run.

There is also the possibility to save PDF Combine to a USB flash disk or similar storage unit, in order to run it on any PC with minimum effort and no previous installers.

An important aspect to take into account is that the Windows registry and Start menu do not get updated with new entries, so no traces are left behind after its removal.

PDF Combine's interface does not stand out in the visual department, as the app opts for a classical look and organized layout. PDF files can be imported into the task list using the file browser only, since the drag-and-drop method is not supported.

You can view the full path for each item and specify the pages you want to merge, instead of processing entire documents. It it possible to re-arrange items in the list, as well as to specify the saving directory when merging the PDFs. There are no other noteworthy options available here.

The tool is very light on the system resources, using low CPU and memory. We have not come across any problems throughout our evaluation, since it did not hang, crash or pop up error messages. On the other hand, PDF Combine has not been updated for a long time, and it does not contain advanced settings. For example, it does not give users the possibility to edit output PDF metadata (e.g. author, keywords). Nevertheless, it serves its main purpose.
