MessLess Collector description
|
Collector software that can be easily customized for any collection
People collect all kinds of stuff: beer bottle caps, Persian rugs, paintings, signatures, baseball cards, comic books, insects, coins, meteorites and even (I am not kidding) fossilized dinosaur droppings! Regular folks usually collect movies, books, DVDs and CDs.
And, as a collection keeps growing and expanding, keeping track of all the items becomes a formidable and challenging task. Fortunately, there are many software utilities that help collectors. But is there one software application that fits all collector needs? Yes, there is, and it's called MessLess Collector.
MessLess is completely customizable, allowing you, the collector to decide what information about your possessions you would like to enter in the database.
The program's built-in editors (Form, Report Style, Script Designer and others) let you change everything, even hotkey combinations! The main one is Form Designer which allows you to manage your inventory fields. Using it you can remove useless fields and add and configure fields you need.
There are 24 various types of fields, including a formula field to automate calculations, Image and Richtext fields. Of course, basic fields like text, number or date fields are included as well.
The program also features a number of advantages that similar applications lack, such as - Multiuser network support; - Direct work with scanners and cameras; - File attachments storage for each item.
E.g. you can attach documents, sounds, images; - Tree-like database structure, which makes adding, moving, searching and grouping collectibles a snap; - Visual script engine to automate routine operations, e.g. create a backup copy each hour or fill fields with predefined data; - Performance optimization allows you to work with large databases (more than 2 GB) just as easily as it would be with smaller databases; - Powerful reporting with grouping, charts, totals. · Backup. Even if your computer suddenly freezes or turns off, your data will not be lost.
· Security. All information is encoded, even if you do not lock the database with a password;
· Full form redesign is supported. There are more than 20 fields available in the program; you can change the behaviour, style, access and layout of any of them.
· Using Visual Query Editor and Report Style Editor, create queries to a database and print any documents - reports, invoices, catalogues, business cards.
· Automate routine operations using simple scripts that may be created by means of an easy-to-use visual editor - that is, there is no necessity to learn any computer language. Just select from the list of more than 40 actions the ones that you need.
· For example, when a form is changed, select to send an e-mail notification; when a button is pressed - select to create a new record; or make a backup copy every 20 minutes.
· Thanks to Import/Parse and Export/Send templates designer, you can send e-mails, generate MS Word and Excel documents, web-pages, import data from Outlook and directly from web sites. For example, you can add to the program a possibility to automatically import currency rates or generate reports in the Excel format.

· New field with support of formatting (RTF). Store and edit full-fledged text with any fonts, highlighting, colour, pictures and so on.
· Graphs. Version 8 features a new system of making up graphs and reports, allowing you to display 9 different types of graphs, combine them, make up dynamic graphs and display all of them right on the main screen of the program.
· Reports. Now you can more easily get the total and subtotal for the selection of records, group it by any field and execute any operation or a script for the selection.
· Highlighting with colour by rules. It is now possible to specify different colour schemes depending on fields’ values for tables and reports. For example, you can highlight non-paid orders with red, and paid orders – with green.
