Currency Converter is a tool with a self-explanatory title - it lets you convert one currency to another.
The user interface is plain but you can easily manage your way through this program, regardless of your experience level.
First of all, you have to update the database via a simple Internet connection (just hit the "Update" button in the toolbar menu).
Then you can import the currency rates you want to work with, from a large database of roughly 220 world currencies.
Now you can use the "Preferred" option to create a new profile when it comes to converting currencies. Add new items to the list by setting the "Left" and "Right" currency and giving your profile a name.
In addition, you can use "Cross Rates" to view multiple currency rates at once, as well as use "World" to view one currency rate at a time.
But you can also access the Windows Calculator from the toolbar menu, export currencies to an Excel, CSV or JavaScript Output file, as well as configure settings (e.g. currency source, proxy settings, enable the use of basic user authentication, enable Currency Converter to automatically check for updates on startup).
The application uses a very low amount of system resources, comes with a step-by-step user guide (that contains snapshots) and didn't freeze or crash during our tests.
However, the interface could definitely welcome some improvements. Otherwise, Currency Converter is a great tool for checking currency rates, especially when you don't have an Internet connection available. We recommend it to all users.
