Writing has greatly evolved alongside technology, especially because of the improvements brought by a keyboard and dedicated applications. Unlike handwriting, typing on a computer benefits from an abundance of different fonts. Related to this, Catfood Font Randomizer comes with the means to create abstract documents or add cool effects to your writing style.
The good thing is that you can take the application everywhere you go, since it doesn’t take you through any kind of installer. Another consequence of portability is that system registries remain intact, so your computer’s health status is not affected in any way.
Starting the application brings up a compact window, without the possibility to resize, but with minimum impact on practicality. One panel lets you view installed fonts on your computer, so that you can decide which to include in the randomizing process. All of them can be selected, but there’s no special function for that. It’s done by selecting the first, holding down Shift, and then selecting the last.
Some degree of flexibility is provided, letting you generate simple font differences, or completely chaotic designs. Font size options let you manually set values for minimum and maximum specifications, with the possibility to set it random or apply the same size to all. Sadly, color is not among randomizing criteria.
Moreover, character casing can either be set to low, upper, mixed, or preserve the existing one. Font selection method puts two options at your disposal, one that cycles through all of them, while the other makes a random selection from the list.
The only thing that can get frustrating is the incredibly tight space reserved for text. There’s no option to load files so you’re forced to paste the text you want to modify. Exporting also needs to be done manually, but pay attention to pasting method, because not all text editors support installed fonts, while others can automatically discard font formatting options.
All things considered, we come to the conclusion that Catfood Font Randomizer doesn’t necessarily bring any practicality on conventional text management, but this doesn’t make it obsolete. Truth be told, just giving it a try is pretty fun, with so many default fonts to mix together, let alone downloading more from the Internet.
