System Font Changer
System Font Changer is a tiny and straightforward tool which allows you to change the font of Windows, as the name implies. It comes packed with limited features.
This is a portable piece of software, so installing System Font Changer is not required. Therefore, you can use a USB flash drive or other similar device to store the tool, plug it into any computer and directly run its executable file.
In this way, you can modify the font of any Windows-based computer you encounter. More importantly, the registry is not updated with new entries and no leftover files can be found on the hard drive after program removal, as it usually happens with installers.
The interface of the tool is based on a small window and plain layout. The 'what you see is what you get' principle applies to System Font Changer, since there are no features available, aside from the ones visible in the main application window.
So, you can select a new font from the drop-down list and click a button to commit changes. However, modifications are made once you reboot the computer. Unfortunately, you cannot restore the font to its default value. The 'Tahoma' font which is used by default in Windows 2000 and XP is not even available in the list.
Plus, you cannot get a preview of the font appearance, since all font names are written in the same format. Further on the downside, you cannot move the main app window to another position on the screen. The tool uses a very low amount of system resources but it has not been updated for a very long time. Thus, it is not compatible with newer Windows editions.
