    A Musical Tutorial description

A musical tutorial, encourage musical study and piano educational software

A Musical Tutorial is an efficient program built to enable users to learn the basic about music and playing the piano.

It offers you treble / bass note & chord sight reading. You will learn how to associate notes to piano keys.

It's got chord dictionary and musical games. You will be able to play, view and print scales, chords and triads.

Print sight reading test papers. Intervals, ear tests, key signatures, rhythm, etc. Play classics. It makes music lessons fun for children or adults.

Here are some key features of "A Musical Tutorial":

    Sight Reading:
    · In the Sight Reading exercise notes appear on the staff and you must identify the notes by selecting the correct note name.

    Sight Reading Drill:
    · In this exercise the intent is for you to try to read as many notes as you can in a set amount of time. The best score is recorded. You may also set the drill to continuous mode with a user defined delay between notes, use continuous mode to sight read notes answering note names in your head before the answer is displayed according to the delay you have set using the delay setting.

    Piano Keys Note Association:
    · Here a note appears on the staff and you play the correct note by clicking the correct piano key using the on-screen keyboard.

    Scales:
    · Lets you display the desired Scales with broken chords letting you hear them being played while viewing the sheet music for them. You can also turn “Step On" which plays one note or chord at a time simultaneously displaying the correct piano key(s) on the on-screen keyboard, or you can turn “Step Off" for continuous play.

    Key Signature Identification:
    · In the Key Signature exercise you identify the displayed key signatures (major or minor) for whichever clef you choose. This exercise has two modes, Read, which has the user identify the correct key signature, and Display, which allows you to display the desired key signature

    Sight Read Chords:
    · Quizzes your knowledge of chords. It gives you the option of identifying any type of chord, i.e., major and minor chords (with various intervals if desired), dom7, maj7, dim7, m7, aug, dim and more.

    Chord Dictionary:
    · Will create and display any chord including inversions, i.e., major and minor chords (with various intervals if desired), dom7, maj7, dim7, m7, aug, dim and more. Simultaneously an on screen keyboard indicates the piano keys that play the chord including the keyboard display of chord inversions.

    · In each of the above exercises, happy face notes are displayed and sections of the clef change color to indicate how far along you are in completing the exercise. Also happy note faces and playing the note is the confirmation of a correct answer. Mistakes are indicated with a “no head shake”. When an exercise is completed the user is rewarded with musical sound and a colorful constantly changing screen full of musical notes and symbols.

    · There are four games you can play that emphasize sight reading and musical symbol recognition skills.

    Note Game:
    · In the note game, notes travel across the screen on a staff, when you correctly identify a note, a rocket, (space shuttle), appears which you drag and launch to intercept the note jettisoning it into Beethoven’s music book. Be on the lookout for Bonuses and Penalties. The speed of the game can be modified according to the user’s proficiency.

    Drive Game:
    · The Drive Game depicts notes coming across the screen on a staff. After correctly identifying a note a race car starts up and you must drag the race car to the note to drive the note off the screen. Beware of obstacles, runaway road signs, because if you crash into an obstacle you lose points. Watch out for those bonuses and penalties.

    Music Symbol Game:
    · This game is a musical term matching game, when a musical term is dragged to the correct musical symbol, a garbage truck comes and hauls the symbol away. This helps Beethoven to clean up a mess from a music book that fell to the ground out of a window when he was startled by a butterfly, scattering music symbols all over the ground.

    Piano Key Game:
    · The piano key game randomly plays piano keys and when it stops on a key, you identify what note it is and weather it is sharp or flat.

    · Game instructions are all available on the main menu and high scores are recorded in the Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame can indicate country of origin with the ability to play the national anthem of a country by clicking its flag. Students love to see their names in the Hall of Fame.

    · A Musical Tutorial also has a very nice ear-training section with four exercises, Intervals, Note Identification, Rhythm and Scale Identification.

    Intervals:
    · In this exercise you have the opportunity to identify by ear all intervals from unison to perfect 8th, dependent on the user setup. This exercise also allows you to identify intervals by sight or to display various intervals. This exercise is great training for the ear.

    Rhythm:
    · In the Rhythm exercise you hear a rhythm play and pick the correct answer from one of four choices. The rhythm can be re-played if needed.

    Note Identification:
    · The Note Identification exercise lets you identify the note played by clicking it on the piano keyboard. You can play middle C as a reference point at any time. This exercise is geared more for the advanced student but can be very valuable ear training to less advanced students by adjusting the user level to a low setting. Hints can be given to help find the correct answer.

    Scale identification:
    · Plays a scale and lets you identify it as being major, minor harmonic or minor melodic. The scale can be re-played if needed.

    Requirements:

    · 1024 x 768 screen resolution

    Limitations:

    · 30-day trial

    · Functions such as Base Key Signature or Base Scale / Chords are not available
