Area Code Directory description
This program allow you to search for USA area codes in a few quick steps.
An area code is a three-digit prefix to a local number in North America (and British Overseas territories, such as Bermuda). The prefix represents a region in a certain state, province or territory.
Area codes only need to be dialed prior to the local number in one of the following situations:
· The caller is outside the area zone
· The caller is dialing from a mobile phone that does not auto-synchronize with local cellular/wireless service providers.
· The caller is placing a call from within a region that has overlapping area codes - this is common is larger cities and metro areas.
Area codes are updated often. Splits, overlaying and discontinuations occur frequently - and therefore it's common to receive incoming calls from "strange" numbers, containing area codes that may seem unfamiliar.
Additionally, you can run an area code search (or use a directory) to discover the source of a long-distance number on your call display.
