Free Decision Maker

Free Decision Maker is a simple and intuitive software utility that was designed to help you choose between different options, enabling you to determine which one appears the best for you, from an objective perspective.

The application features a very basic yet accessible appearance, so not being that experienced in working with computers will not stop you from benefiting from its functions.

The main window of Free Decision Maker starts out quite empty at first, but you can use the ‘Add’ buttons for inputting criteria and options, based on which an estimate will be made.

For starters, you will need to input your criterion, be it just one or several, depending on the decision that you have to make. For each one, you can add a description and select a level of importance, ranging from ‘Low’ to ‘High’.

Subsequently, you can add the choices you are faced with but cannot seem to decide upon. For each criterion, a grading scale will be created, so you can set its value using a dedicated slider. As such, your criteria can be be assigned values ranging from -5 to +5.

Once you have configured the options and their individual value, you can click on the dice in the program’s ribbon and Free Decision Maker will calculate the total value of each alternative, indicating the one that scores the highest and thus qualifies as the best.

While the calculation is indeed objective, the value attached to certain criteria is entirely in your hands, so the decision you make is still your own. The created file can be saved to XML format to your computer, should you wish to later re-analyze it.

In short, Free Decision Maker is a handy and easy to understand application that looks at the available choices in a specific situation and calculates what is the best alternative, being able to point you in the right direction when you do not know what to do.
