Quizmaster

Educational games have always been praised for their ability to provide a laid-back environment in which persons of all ages can acquire new knowledge. Quizmaster is just such an educational game that allows users to perfect their language and general knowledge skills.

The program features five simple game modules, which are customized by the quiz template loaded by users. Quizmaster comes with twelve such sample quizzes, covering areas such as the English vocabulary, grammar, and idioms, but also French and German speaking, Primary Mathematics, or general knowledge.

Once any one of these templates is chosen, users are free to play any of the available games. These modules integrate with the quiz items and allow users progression and victory if correct answers are provided.

The five educational games are: “Connections”, “Snakes and Ladders”, “At the Races”, “Millionaire”, and “The Sky's the Limit”. The first three can be played by two users, while the latter ones are singleplayer only. Progression through either of these modules is performed by answering correctly items contained in the quiz template.

Thus, the program combines entertainment with learning, as winning any game implies one has mastered the quiz domain. Another method of running this program is via the “Multiple-Choice Tests” module, which is also based on the same layout as the other games, but features a question-answer setup, complete with single and multiple-choice items. Where applicable, images will be displayed and users are tasked with matching the picture with the explanation.
