ReadWrite Chinese will teach you the 1001 most frequently used Chinese characters. The program features meanings, pinyin pronunciations. Each character includes stroke order illustrations and animations.
The program features a Learning List which, at any one time, contains a small subset of the total 1001 characters. Students begin by reviewing the character in the Learning List and then progress to a number of exercises.
If all the exercises are completed correctly for a particular character, it then moves off the learning list and another yet unlearned character replaces it. If a mistake is made in any of the exercises, the character's scores are reset and all exercises must be repeated.
The program also includes around 4000 examples that illustrate the use of each of the character.
Learning character using ReadWrite Chinese is based around the Learning List. The Learning List contains a small subset of the 1001 characters which allows the student to concentrate, at any one time, on learning the smaller subset rather than the entire 1001 characters.
All of the character currently in the Learning List can be reviewed by clicking the 'Review Learning List' in the Exercises frame. The feature functions like a flashcard which displays the character, it's stroke order, meaning , pinyin pronunciation and a number of examples of the use of the character.
