Dictation Pro

If you are not satisfied with your typing speed, you can either take some lessons and improve your skills, or you can rely on a dictation application to get your reports completed in time by reading them aloud and having them typed for you. A tool that can perform all these tasks is Dictation Pro.

It needs to be mentioned from the get-go that the application only functions on Vista or up, so you will not be able to enjoy its functions if you are still running Windows XP or older.

Before using the functions of the program, you need to connect your headset to your PC then test your microphone so as to make sure your words are correctly interpreted. It is recommended to use a high-quality microphone as a lower quality one might affect the accuracy of the speech recognition.

Once this step is completed, you can start dictating your school assignment or work report, and the app will type it for you thus saving you time and energy. You can edit it even further, by inserting hyperlinks and bullets or changing the alignment, the font type, size and color.

When you are done with your report, you can save it as TXT, DOC, DOCX, RTF or PDF, depending on the format you require.

Alternatively, you can open an existing document and edit it just the same, by dictating its contents, then export it to a different format than the source one.

Dictation Pro can be a genuine time-saver once you set it up, create a voice profile if there are several users sharing your PC, and get accustomed to dictating your text instead of typing it. It might seem cumbersome at first, but it is worth a try, especially since it is a freeware application.
