Softpedia Editor's Review for e-Sword
|
This application was designed to be a fast and effective way to study the Bible
Written by Mihaela Citea on December 13th, 2011
In the IT age even the Bible can be studied in a new way. Designed for those who are passionate about religion, e-Sword is a lightweight application that helps users look up and compare scripture references.
e-Sword provides you with a multiple pane interface that enables you to easily access all its features. First, you have the Scripture Reference pane, from where you can select the desired Bible section and chapter. The program automatically translates the Old and New Testament for easier reading. Once you select the chapter, you can preview the content and compare it with other versions. The program displays the King James Version of the Holy Bible, also known as the Authorized Version.
An interesting feature of e-Sword is that it includes a dictionary which explains every word and displays its translation in the original language the Bible was written in: Hebrew. In addition to this, if you want to search for a certain keyword in the Bible dictionary, you can use the 'Extended Dictionary Search' feature.
Moreover, those who use e-Sword are able to write study notes while reading the Bible. The in-built text editor enables you to format the text you write down right within the program and save it as a different text file you can use afterward with other applications.
Furthermore, you can also categorize your notes on different topics. This way you can organize your annotations, so later you can easily find and read them.
In order to thoroughly study the Bible, e-Sword includes the 'Analyze Verses' feature. This helps you count the number of words in a selected Bible verse and customize a common words list.
e-Sword is a simple application designed to help common people, theology students and religion enthusiasts read and study the Holy Books' content, in order to learn about religion history and facts.
