File Renamer

Chances are you want to organize a large collection of files by simply renaming them. As its title suggest, File Renamer is a tool that enables you to batch rename files (but also folders).

This application does not need to be installed, so File Renamer is portable. In this case, you can store it on a removable drive and directly run its executable file on any computer. Plus, your Windows registry entries will remain intact.

The interface of File Renamer is based on a standard window in which you can easily access the tool's features.

Files and folders can be imported into the list by using the file browser or "drag and drop" method.

You can add a prefix or suffix, remove text from the file name, replace all characters or numbers with other text, change the file extension and capitalize the first letter of every word.

You can convert all text to uppercase or lowercase, enable to automatically create new names from the file names and trim characters from the beginning or end.

You can change a file's attributes, date and time (or add them to the beginning or end), numerate files, clear the list, as well as use search and undo functions.

File Renamer also lets you sort files (by name, date or type), get a character position, create a renaming script (available for expert users) and "Send To" link, as well as enable the tool to stay on top of other applications, integrate in the context menu, save the window's position and size, and others.

The program requires very low system resources, supports two languages for the interface and includes a well-written help file with snapshots for beginners. We haven't come across any issues during our tests.

Apart from the outdated interface, we strongly recommend File Renamer to all user levels, since it comes with both basic and advanced features, being worth your while overall.
