There are plenty of solutions for dealing with pesky little things like mosquitoes. These blood-sucking flies can be quite annoying especially during the quiet, summer nights but the most important aspect is that they can spread various diseases.
Most of the alternatives for keeping them away have nothing to do with computers but there is one application that claims to be able to fend them off with a single click of the mouse.
No installation routine, simple to work with
No Mosquito does not require to be installed as it works out of the box. There is a single screen to deal with, which features only two buttons: one for turning the application on and one for terminating its activity.
The developer also offers an explanation of how the program works for the more sceptical of the users. Basically, the program should emit a high-frequency sound that can be heard by mosquitoes and prevent them from entering the premises.
However, some studies show that electronic mosquito repellents have no effect on this sort of flies and the more traditional methods should not be eliminated.
Sound level is affected
But despite the scientific studies and in lack of the little pests for proper testing of the program we noticed that No Mosquito actually does something.
When turned on, the volume of the computer suffered a slight change and lowered. Disabling it restored the sound level.
Mosquitoes may still do their bidding
No Mosquito can be used without going through an installation routine and it doesn’t demand too much of the computer resources (~23MB of RAM). It can be added among the alternatives that keep mosquitoes at bay although its effects are not guaranteed.
