    Software Life-Cycle Management description

Software Life-Cycle Management - Document and track software requirements and test cases

The Software Life-Cycle Management (SLIM) tool was developed to be a lightweight solution to documenting and tracking software requirements and test cases. It aims to establish a full trace of software items in a project.

From conception of the project, during the development of the project and the testing phase of the project, requirements may change. SLIM allows you to track these changes through meeting minutes and allows you to link them to solid requirements.

When requirements are completed (i.e. implemented) they can be linked to the source code that actually implements these requirements. While setting up the requirements, a test plan is created through test cases that will test the requirements.

SLIM uses XML and XSL to generate documentation and reports thereby allowing you to customise the look and feel of the documentation, what should be generated and what should not.

By default, SLIM generates one complete document encompassing the minutes of meetings, requirements of the system as well as the test cases that will be used to test the system in HTML format that could be made available immediately to everyone on the project by publishing it on the local intranet website or your company network.
