VT Hash Check is a small utility that can quickly check the MD5 checksum of a given file against the MD5 database of VirusTotal.com. If the checksum matches a file already scanned by VirusTotal.com then the results of 41 anti-virus scanners are shown.
VirusTotal, and this program by extension, is not substitute any antivirus software installed in a PC, as it only scans individual files on demand. It does not offer permanent protection for the user's system either.
Although the detection rate afforded by the use of multiple antivirus engines is far superior to that offered by just one product, these results DO NOT guarantee the harmlessness of a file.
