VirusTotalScanner Portable is an easy to use and efficient utility whose main function is to help you scan the programs and applications you downloaded, in order to make sure they are not infected with any viruses, Trojans, spyware or other malware.

VirusTotalScanner Portable can only function if you have an Internet connection. It allows you to select the target file, then it will display its MD5 Hash and SHA256 Hash, unique codes based on which it will attempt to retrieve results from VirusTotal.com

VirusTotal.com is an online service that can scan files of up to 64MB, using over 40 anti-virus solutions from all over the world. In addition to the almost instant scan provided by this service, if a file looks suspicious, it can be further analyzed by individual anti-virus developers in their labs, in order to identify any hidden threat.

While the scan offered by VirusTotalScanner Portable is quite reliable, the application can only return any results if the file you are trying to analyze has been previously uploaded to VirusTotal.com. Otherwise, the program simply fails to offer a result, thus proving to have a rather limited functionality.

Thanks to its portability, you can carry this application with you on a USB drive and scan files on any computer connected to the Internet. It makes the uninstallation process very clean, as you only have to remove the containing folder.

VirusTotalScanner Portable is a user-friendly tool that can quickly assure you if certain files are dangerous or not, but it can only do that under limited circumstances; if your target file has never been analyzed on VirusTotal.com, you will still need to upload it the traditional way.
