Portable ChateX

Portable ChateX is a software program whose purpose is to aid people keep in touch, packed with an intuitive environment and the ability to send files to other users.

This is the portable edition of ChateX, which means that the installation process can be skipped. As a consequence, the Windows registry and hard drive are not going to be updated with new entries without your approval, and no leftovers will remain on the disk after you delete it.

Another important aspect is that you can easily take Portable ChateX anywhere with you and use it on any computer you are granted access to, by moving the program files to an external data device.

The interface you are met with presents a pretty minimal and clean build, as it only consist of a menu bar, and a few panes which enable you to view recently used servers, connected people and the conversation. Although no Help contents are provided, both power and novice users can handle it with ease.

Aside from connecting to a server of your choice, it is possible to edit your profile, by inputting name, password, e-mail address, country, home page, interests, gender and a picture URL. You can change your status (e.g. available, busy, away, custom etc.) and end the connection.

Private conversions can take place, files can be transferred, as long as they are smaller than 1000GB, and the ban list can be displayed in a new window, or new users can be added to it.

Overall, Portable ChateX is a pretty efficient piece of software when it comes to keeping in touch with family and friends. The interface is accessible to everybody, the response time is good, CPU and memory usage is insignificant and our tests did not reveal any problems such as errors, crashes or bugs.
