Portable Nightowl description
|
An Accessible IRC Client for the blind and visualy impaired
The Portable Nightowl application was developed to be an accessible IRC Client. Here are some key features of "Portable Nightowl":
· The ability to connect to an IRC server (no multi-server support)
· The ability to join a channel (only one channel for now)
· The ability to use basic IRC actions, such as emotes, nick completion, op, deop, kick, ban.
· Basic support for message logging (transcripts)
· Automatic speech output for popular screen readers (Jaws, Window Eyes, System Access, NVDA)
· Support for Microsoft's Speech API
· The ability to review the ten last received messages (Including system messages) and copy them to the clipboard.
· Adjustable font size for visually impaired users.
· Basic Sound events support (when an user joins, leaves, etc)
· Configurable watchlist which alerts if an user signs in or out from the same IRC server.

· Added a sent message history, which can be recalled with the up and down arrows in the input field.
· Added shift+enter to repeat the last sent message.
· Added to show when a user is voiced (+).

· Added shift-f8 to give or revoke voice.
· Added a error trap for catching irc error 477, if a user must register their nick first before being allowed to join a channel.

· Added a better way to determine whether WindowEyes is running or not.
