Portable NK2Edit

If you are regularly using Outlook as your main email client, then chances are that you heard of NK2 files before. If not, then they are files that include information about Outlook users, data that is automatically built by Outlook and that cannot be edited. Portable NK2Edit is a lightweight utility that enables you to edit the aforementioned NK2 files when the situation calls for it.

The program comes with an old-school interface designed as a table, but that is user-friendly and unlikely to give you any troubles regardless of your experience with similar tools. You can get started by opening the desired NK2 file and going through the information displayed on the list.

Editing the contact information file in this case means changing any information that is no longer relevant, deleting data and users, adding new contacts, copying content between files, so on and so forth. If needed, the app enables you to build a new NK2 file where the information can be added from another NK2, from Outlook directly or manually.

The data can also be exported to a plain text file, HTML, CSV or XML. Lastly, the tool can be used to recover information, as it can extract data from corrupted NK2 files that Outlook cannot read anymore.

As far as the compatibility goes, you should know that the tool supports files created by Outlook 2003 and newer. While you don’t need to have Outlook installed to run the app, some features - like Add Records From Address Book, for instance - cannot work without having the email client on your system.
