Portable Baby FTP Server
Portable Baby FTP Server is definitely one of the easiest ways to set up a FTP server, as this lightweight application provides not only a very basic GUI, but also just a few options to play with.
The one-window interface shows the server log that basically allows you to keep an eye on activity and file transfers.
Setting up the server however is piece of cake, mostly because Portable Baby FTP Server doesn’t allow you to create multiple user accounts, but instead it only supports anonymous connections.
The one and only window provides access to a “Settings” screen as well and it’s almost impossible not to figure out which option is which.
You can for example automatically load Portable Baby FTP Server at Windows startup, but you’re also allowed to define permissions, such as allow download, upload, delete, rename or create directory.
Last but not least, Portable Baby FTP Server gives you the option to set the home directory, which is the same for all connections. Unfortunately, you can only share one folder at a time, which is actually one of the most important drawbacks of the app.
The good thing is that Portable Baby FTP Server seems to provide great transfer speeds, but this also depends on your Internet connection. There’s no help manual, but everything’s so easy to use that you don’t even need one.
All things considered, if you are looking for a quick way to share files through FTP, Portable Baby FTP Server is the way to go. It has no advanced configuration settings, but just a basic interface and a reliable engine to offer you decent transfer rates.
