An audio tool that allows you to record and play sounds, import or export WAV, AIFF or MP3 files.

Audacity is a popular software that enables you to edit audio files in a simple manner.
Since this is the portable version of the application, Audacity doesn't need to be installed. So, your Windows registry keys will remain intact. Also, you can place it on a removable device and run it on any computer.
The tool comes with a user-friendly interface in which you can save and open projects in the Audacity format, along with MP3, WAV, AIFF, OGG, FLAC and other types of audio files.
So, you can check dependencies, edit the metadata tags, import labels, MIDI files and Raw data, apply and edit chains, as well as export audio tracks in the AIFF, WAV, MP2, MP3, OGG, FLAC, WMA, AMR and other types of formats.
When it comes to audio editing options, you can cut, split cut, trim, paste text to a new label, split delete, silence audio, join, detach at silenced sections, duplicate, find zero crossings, as well as lock a play region or save and restore a region.
In addition, you can zoom in and out, view history, karaoke and a mixer board. But you can also record audio and use a timer, as well as enable overdub, software playthrough and sound activated recording.
Furthermore, you can mix and render tracks, set a new sample frequency rate, generate chirping sounds, noise, silence, DTMF tones, as well as add various effects (e.g. amplify, auto duck, bass boost, change pitch, speed and tempo, remove clicks, echo, fade in and out, reverse).
Last but not least, you can analyze contrast, plot spectrum, find clipping and beats, and more. The program uses a high amount of system resources, includes a user manual and is simple to use, whether you are an experienced individual or not.
Since we haven't encountered any problems during our tests, we strongly recommend Audacity Portable to all users.

Here are some key features of "Audacity Portable":
Recording:
· Record from microphone, line input, or other sources.
· Dub over existing tracks to create multi-track recordings.
· Record up to 16 channels at once (requires multi-channel hardware).
· Level meters can monitor volume levels before, during, and after recording.
Import and Export:
· Import and export WAV, AIFF, AU, and Ogg Vorbis files.
· Import MPEG audio (including MP2 and MP3 files) with libmad.
· Export MP3s with the optional LAME encoder library.
· Create WAV or AIFF files suitable for burning to CD.
· Import and export all file formats supported by libsndfile.
· Open raw (headerless) audio files using the "Import Raw" command.
· Note: Audacity does not currently support WMA, AAC, or most other proprietary or restricted file formats
Editing:
· Easy editing with Cut, Copy, Paste, and Delete.
· Use unlimited Undo (and Redo) to go back any number of steps.
· Very fast editing of large files.
· Edit and mix an unlimited number of tracks.
· Use the Drawing tool to alter individual sample points.
· Fade the volume up or down smoothly with the Envelope tool.
Effects:
· Change the pitch without altering the tempo, or vice-versa.
· Remove static, hiss, hum, or other constant background noises.
· Alter frequencies with Equalization, FFT Filter, and Bass Boost effects.
· Adjust volumes with Compressor, Amplify, and Normalize effects.
· Other built-in effects include: Echo, Phaser, Wahwah, Reverse
Sound Quality:
· Record and edit 16-bit, 24-bit, and 32-bit (floating point) samples.
· Record at up to 96 KHz.
· Sample rates and formats are converted using high-quality resampling and dithering.
· Mix tracks with different sample rates or formats, and Audacity will convert them automatically in realtime.
Plug-Ins:
· Add new effects with LADSPA plugins.
· Audacity includes some sample plugins by Steve Harris.
· Load VST plugins for Windows and Mac, with the optional VST Enabler.
· Write new effects with the built-in Nyquist programming language
Analysis:
· Spectrogram mode for visualizing frequencies.
· "Plot Spectrum" command for detailed frequency analysis.
