X-EasyTag

X-EasyTag is a software program whose purpose is to aid people in viewing and editing tags from songs and rename multiple items in one single session.

Since this is the portable counterpart of EasyTag, developed by winPenPack, you can easily skip the installation process. This means that, unlike installers, it is not going to add any new items to the Windows registry and hard drive, and after its removal from the disk no remnants are going to be left behind.

Another important information is that you can easily move the program files to a USB thumb drive and thus, run it on the fly, on any PC you come in contact with.

The interface you are met with presents a pretty well-organized appearance, as it consists of a menu bar, several buttons, and a few panes which enable you to view the contents of your hard drive, ID3 tags and logs. Consequently, both power and novice users can find their way around it, without encountering any issues.

This utility supports a pretty long list of audio files, such as APE, FLA, MP2, MP3 and OGG, and lets you edit the tag entries (e.g. title, artist, album, year, comment, composer, copyright message, URL etc.), view appended pictures and information such as size, length, frequency sample, bit rate and encoder.

A search function is supported, you can load multiple items from a TXT document and it is possible to rename several files and folders with the help of a mask editor.

To wrap it up, X-EasyTag is a pretty efficient piece of software when it comes to editing ID3 tags. The interface is suitable to all user categories, yet not so very easy on the eyes, the response time is good and CPU and memory usage is low at all times.
