Portable Image Uploader

While there are plenty of photo sharing websites out there, some users still rely on apps for rapidly uploading images in batch mode for online storage and accessibility.

One such program is Image Uploader or, in this case, its portable companion. The tool is designed to rapidly upload selected files (not only images) and folders and upload them to numerous file sharing websites. It bundles other pleasantly surprising features as well, such as a screen grabber and video frames extractor.

Among the vast list of supported image types, JPEG, PNG, GIF and BMP are worth mentioning. The interface is based on a wizard-like structure, which basically means that each step must be completed before proceeding to the following one. Inexperienced users needn't worry, as the options are intuitive enough.

Add images from various locations

Images can be added from file, folder, link or Clipboard, as well as re-uploaded. Meanwhile, links can be shortened, courtesy of Is.gd, Clck.ru or Goo.gl.

You can import video files with the AVI, MPG, VOB, WMV and other popular formats to capture frames in single or batch mode. The screenshot grabber works for the entire screen, active window, selected area or object, or in freehand mode.

The list of pending tasks can be filled with images from any location (including video frames and screenshots) before preparing all of them for upload. Several settings can be configured regarding this matter, such as output format (JPEG, PNG, GIF, auto) and whether you want to create thumbnails or not (with or without text).

The list of possible servers for image hosting is long and includes Imageshack.us, Picasa Web Albums, Imgur.com, Dropbox, FTP servers, Mediafire.com, Rapidshare.com and Zippyshare.com. Some of these servers are also available for uploading file formats different than photographs.

On task completion, Image Uploader shows links, forum and HTML codes, allowing users to copy data to the Clipboard for safekeeping. As far as program configuration is concerned, the tool is once again generous in options. For instance, it can be integrated into the Windows Explorer shall extension for quickly uploading selected images.

Users are free to create multiple profiles for rapidly applying the same set of options in multiple photo uploading sessions. Worth mentioning is that the images may be stamped with watermarks and captions, and their EXIF information can be preserved. These are just a small part of the customization settings available for Image Uploader.

Multiple languages are supported, along with keyboard shortcuts which can be remapped. CPU and RAM usage was minimal during our evaluation, and we have not come across any issues (except for some errors when attempting to upload unsupported file types).

To conclude, users may take a while to get a handle on Image Uploader, but they will surely not be disappointed by the vast features and configuration options provided by the tool. In addition to this, portability means that the app can be run on any workstation directly from a pen drive.
