VirtualDub Portable

This is the portable version of VirtualDub - the well-known video capture and video processing tool.

Since installation is not necessary, your Windows registry keys will remain intact. Also, you can place VirtualDub Portable on a removable device and run it on any computer.

The interface of the application is based on a standard window. You can import files saved in different formats (including AVI, DIVX, MPG, GIF, PNG and JPG).

Thus, you can view the video in an input and output pane. All the changes you make to the video will be reflected in the left pane.

VirtualDub allows you to use basic tools, such as a position slider, timestamp display, as well as playback, frame step, keyframe, scene step, mark-in and mark-out controls.

Plus, you can apply various filters, such as brightness, contrast, format conversion, flip, blur, chrome smoother, inversion, resize, levels and warp sharp.

You can also change the video frame rate, set video color depth, select video compression and range of video to process, as well as enable smart rendering and the option to preserve empty frames.

You can copy the source or output frame to clipboard, scan the video stream for errors, set the decoder error mode, enable audio and video interleave options, configure general and advanced settings in audio, and more.

You can make some performance changes (e.g. AVI output buffering, Wave input buffering), enable dynamic compilation, reassign keyboard shortcuts, access a HEX editor, create sparse AVI, and much more.

The program uses a low-to-moderate amount of system resources, contains a well-draw help file and didn't pop up any error during our tests. Since, VirtualDub Portable comes with some pretty advanced options, we mainly recommend it to power users.
