NetTraffic Portable

Among many other tasks, network administrators have to make sure that the data traffic that goes through the network does not cause clutters. In other words, they need a reliable traffic monitoring application that can provide statistical information about the sent and received packets and offer insight on what might have caused bottlenecks at some point. One such application is NetTraffic Portable.

Designed as the install-free edition of NetTraffic, this application helps users keep an eye on the network bandwidth and monitor the transfer speed.

It runs in the system tray and displays a floating window nearby to show users a real-time graphical representation of the network traffic evolution, as well as the download and the upload speed. The columns in the chart are color coded, so one can see the proportions between the downloaded and the uploaded packets, and the background activity.

There are various configuration settings the user can tamper with, starting with the traffic units to use and the network interfaces to monitor (by default, NetTraffic Portable displays data for all the detected interfaces).

Moving further, one can change the chart type if they don't fancy the default column one, and modify its style, beginning with colors, transparency level, the legend, and so on.

NetTraffic Portable gathers the network traffic information, which allows it to generate statistical reports to check out how the speed and the amount of exchanged packets evolved in time. Charts and data tables for different periods of time are available in the Statistics window.

NetTraffic Portable reveals accurate information about the data traffic, allowing the ongoing monitoring of the network bandwidth in a non-intrusive way, using a small chart window near the tray area. It does not require installation and leaves no traces in the system's registry, which is another of its pluses
