Monitor your web-based processes and find out the remote IP addresses and ports they get connected to, using this intuitive tool. #Port Expert #Port Monitor #Monitor Port #Port #Monitor #Process
Portable PortExpert is an easy-to-use tool that gives you the possibility to keep an eye on running processes which establish connections to remote addresses and ports. This has a number of benefits, like trying to track down backdoors.
Since this program is portable, you can just extract the files from the downloaded package and double-click the executable to fire up PortExpert. Thanks to the fact that it comes wrapped in a small-sized file, you can place the port monitor on a USB flash drive and run it on any of your computers without setup.
It's recommended to run it as administrator to be able to take advantage of all features available. All your currently running applications connected to the Internet are listed at startup by default, so it's not necessary to perform manual scans.
You can examine the process ID, protocol, process name, remote address and port number for each application while keeping in mind that this data gets updated in real time.
When it comes to possible actions, you can run Whois to find out domain information using a web service, perform a Google search, try to connect to the remote IP address and port number using your web browser, as well as open a process' location in Windows Explorer.
You can freeze time for any selected process to prevent data from getting updated, also show system processes in the list (although this is risky if you don't know what you're doing), as well as view local connections.
The port monitoring tool logs its activity to file. Unfortunately, it cannot log the actions of processes so you can find out exactly when and for how long they have established remote connections. This would had gone hand in hand with a notification system on new connections.
Nevertheless, Portable PortExpert provides you with an insight into the activity of your web-based applications. It worked smoothly on the newest Windows version in our tests and had minimal impact on the machine's performance.
